Getting Clear on your Chakras
We know what water looks like when its cloudy. Imagine seeing how thoughts cluster up the space in our minds or bodies. I took a higher mind development class just last weekend and we got some insight into the chakra system. I got some clarity on the value of keeping the mind clear by having an open chakra system.

When we got to review our scores, someone yelled out that mine were the most balanced in the class. The person next to me said, “that is because she teaches yoga.”. I was thinking.. what a great way to showcase yoga!

If you happen to be wondering “wait, is a chakra?”  In a nut shell, it means “wheel” in Sanskrit. It is like a circular energy center that spins around generating a vibration. Each main center represents different organs, or body systems. There are 7 main ones in the body that govern particular emotions, functions or regions, represented by their own color. A balanced chakra area lets us know how well or clearly we are functioning in that particular part of our being. Taking a chakra test can be a great way to gain more self awareness.

I found it interesting that my highest percentage was the throat chakra, given that I teach almost daily, in either massage or yoga. To keep things from being overworked, such as my throat chakra, a great practice is to meditate.

Yoga Tribe met last night for our monthly group meditation. We got to do some light chair yoga, sit together, as I gave a guided meditation on each chakra and then shift into a healing mind space as I played the crystal bowl sounds. People got to support each other in their current challenges and enjoy some of the delicious snacks and tea of the month. 🙂

Life has been quite surprising lately, with opportunity to unlock some hidden potential!  One of my assignments was to read the book “Light is the New Black”. by Rebecca Campbell.  It is a soulful journey with lots of invitations to practice yoga- on a physical level- or through mental inquiry.  There are many quotes and pages I have marked to reflect on again. I want to share a couple of them that allow me to take very big deep exhales.

There is no end destination to get to, no time to arrive. Rather more of yourself to embrace and expand into.  Likewise…
There is no right or wrong way to expand and grow, just many different paths. 
Your inner guidance system knows what’s the right one for you, don’t let anyone tell you different. 

I notice in yoga as I am doing some poses, especially spinal twists, mental tension releases. I get to unwind my frustration about not getting something I want fast enough or not having it happen at all. I get to realize through my yoga practice, that the thing to do is keep practicing. We are here to keep practicing it all, how to be with life, how to be with yoga poses, how to be with people who take us beyond our comfort zone and how to just be.

If you would like to just be and enjoy a day get away, I’m hosting my first retreat at my yoga home, just about 15-20 away from the LA Fitness clubs where I teach.

3:00-4:00pm          Group Yoga Activity
