Yoga “Rock Stars” in Town

photo(5)A special thank you to those students who asked about the yoga music I was playing in class by Jim Beckwith.  It doesn’t surprise me that people would ask about such a talented musician.  I figured his cd’s would be available on Itunes, but decided to contact him to ask exactly how people could get his music.  Simply check out  The best gift about asking was learning of the rare appearance he will be making in Atlanta! He will be playing live music along with yoga Master Teacher, Saul David Raye!  It is such an awesome surprise to have him and a world wide recognized Yoga Master Teacher travel all the way from Ojai, California to Atlanta to share their gifts with us.  Since taking Saul’s 200Hr RYT Holistic Atma Yoga Teacher Training in 2011, an incredible amount of unforeseen blessings have showered my life.  On Thurs. August 22nd, from 7:00-9:30pm, Saul and Jim will be offering an extraordinary Yoga Immersion Class that is sure to be an epic experience!  Tickets are available for purchase, just $20, at They are $25/door but I would be amazed if there are any left or any spots left.

This a rare opportunity to connect with yoga at its finest,  in Atlanta! I have been used to traveling to far away places, like Exhale yoga studio in Santa Monica, Colorado Yoga Journal Conference or Bhakti Fest in Joshua Tree and literally arriving very early to save my spot for these unforgettable events. I remember about 10 years before I ever said a word to Saul David Raye, I was sitting very high up in the bleachers of an auditorium where he was teaching. There was a workshop going on and he was accompanied by a well respected kirtan musician named David Stringer. I was feeling maxed out that day, so I decided to just watch from a very far away distance. Even though I was sitting so far out of view, I could feel the power of that packed class completely energizing my whole being.  Without even trying, my entire spirit was being uplifted, rejuvenated, and cleansed on all levels!  I told myself that one day I would reconnect with him. Infinite thanks to the universe for the great blessing of getting to take his yoga teacher training and for the generosity Saul has shown me in allowing me to study yoga even deeper.

Having taken other yoga teacher trainings, it is a given that each yoga teacher offers something unique and special. There are also those who are very gifted seemingly from birth or from merits acquired from previous births, and are simply mystical. They can teach you everything there is to know and instill that knowledge in you as an Instructor. Yet a Master Teacher, or a rare musician can actually transmit their Shakti (spiritual energy) and awaken Bhakti (devotion to the Higher Self) very easily and effortlessly to all who are willing to receive it.  These are the type of experiences that are very difficult to explain in words. You just have to go and experience it for yourself. There is something really profound about someone who can infuse expert applications of anatomy to yoga posture alignment, ancient teachings of the shamans and the Yoga Vedas, and mind mesmerizing music to awaken the chakras, invoking Infinite wisdom. Saul embodies the heart and soul of yoga as well as has expert knowledge in how chiropractic science and physiology works into every yoga posture. Saul and Jim are both so down to earth, it is refreshing to be around them.  I was so excited when I heard they were coming to town, I felt compelled to focus my newest blog on them. You know you’ve stumbled upon greatness when something is not just memorable in your mind but deeply in your soul. If you feel called to go, I’ll see you there. Namaste!

  1. Thank you so much for writing this article about Jim, Saul, and their visit here to Atlanta. It has been a real treasure to work on having them here… a sweet collaboration with Isabelle Casey of the Atlanta Yoga Scene, & Be Yoga of Marietta GA.

The event was originally going to be at the Be Yoga studio location but, within about 4 days, the class outgrew the space. We had to make a quick change to a new space, the Marietta History Museum of all places! But its close, just a block away, has a great space, its going to be perfect.

Anyway, thank you again. I would love to be able to share more info with you about upcoming events in Atlanta, especially in the world of kirtan & Bhakti yoga.

    Peace my friend!
    Stan Holt
